Allergy Relief

When an individual is suffering from an allergic reaction to something, the thing upmost in their mind is to find some form of Allergy Relief.  There are numerous ways to treat allergies, and the type of treatment can be both dependant on the type of allergy symptoms, as well as the reaction that occurs.

Medications. Some medication can be obtained from your local pharmacy, whereas others will require a prescription from the Doctor.  For more information, go to Allergy Treatment.

Acupuncture. This ancient form of treatment is based on traditional Chinese Medicine.  The practitioner works at alleviating the acute symptoms of the allergy, while also working towards a longer term outcome, of addressing the underlying imbalances that have led to the allergic response.  The ultimate goal, is to strengthen the immune system of the individual.

Saline Nasal Rinse.  Also know as a Neti Pot has been used in India for centuries.  It is used to flush out the nasal cavity, and can be very effective at alleviating sinus congestion.

Omega 3 fatty acids.  A diet rich in omega 3 fatty acids can help to reduce inflammation.  Foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids include fish, walnuts, flaxseed, broccoli and spinach, to name a few.  It can also be taken as a supplement.

Air Purifiers.  These can help to improve the indoor air quality, by removing airborne allergens, and air pollutants.  It is well worth considering investing in one with a Hepa filter (see below) to put in the bedroom.  It can go a long way to aiding a good night’s sleep!

Hepa filters.  A vacuum cleaner with a High Efficiency Particulate Air (Hepa) filter is highly recommended for allergy sufferers.  A Hepa filter can eliminate more than 99.9% of particles.  This means that it is very effective at removing dust, pollen, pet hair, dust mites, and even bacteria, which will certainly help to provide Allergy Relief.

Homeopathy. This approach focuses on strengthening the immune system.  It addresses the body’s hypersensitivity to the allergen.  Certainly, it is a good to find relief from the symptoms; however, ultimately, it is better to address the underlying cause.

Antioxidants. These work to slow down the oxidation process in the body, and strengthen the immune system.  They include Vitamins A, C, E, Carotenoids,  and Selenium.

Magnesium.  Can help to decrease the constriction of the airways, and therefore may offer some allergy relief for asthmatics.

Vitamin B12. Research suggests that it can be beneficial for allergy sufferers.
