Allergy Symptoms
Allergy symptoms that are experienced by an individual, can
be vast and varied. On top of this, symptoms can present very
rapidly, or can take hours to manifest. For this reason, the following
list should only be used as a guideline.
- Anaphylaxis, eg. breathing difficulty, swelling, increased heart
rate, loss of consciousness. Anaphylaxis is the most severe symptom to
an allergy that an individual can have. It is extremely important that
immediate action must be taken, as this situation can present very
quickly, and can be a matter of life or death.
- Asthma, eg. wheezing, coughing, tightness in the chest, breathlessness.
- Headaches, poor concentration, lethergy.
- Nasal congestion / irritation, eg. rhinitis, sinusitis, blocked nose, sneezing, itchy nose.
- Digestive disturbances, eg. cramps, bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea.
- Eye irritation, eg. conjunctivitis, swollen, itchy, red, dark circles under eyes.
- Ear problems, eg. blocked, itchy, infections.
- Skin conditions, eg. eczema, blotchy skin, hives, swelling, sweating.
- Behavioural problems, eg. aggression, hyperactivity.
This list of Allergy Symptoms is by no means conclusive.
Also, these symptoms are not only confined to allergies. It is
therefore always important to seek the advice of a healthcare
professional.
The most common causes of allergy symptoms include dust mites,
pollen, certain foods, pets, and mold. They can all have a huge
negative impact on the life of the sufferer. There are a number of allergy tests
available that can be conducted to help to determine what is causing
the symptoms. From this, it is then possible to work towards
prevention of symptoms, and also offer some measure of allergy relief. |
